Get more for your trade-in During Galaxy Motors’ annual Cash for Clunkers sale.

Your junky jalopy is worth at least $2,000!

Trade up at the Galaxy Motors Cash for Clunkers sale

The annual Cash for Clunkers sale, on now until Sept. 30 at Galaxy Motors, is the year’s best opportunity to trade up your old heap and get yourself a good vehicle.

Galaxy offers $2,000 trade-in value on anything, whether it’s running or not. “We’ll take cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, motorhomes, motorbikes, utility trailers, you name it,” says David King, Galaxy Motors’s general manager. “Be creative!”

The trade-in applies to purchases of $8,000 or more. King says depending on what you bring in, they will offer up to $4,000 in trade.

‘A little bit of fun’

Cash for Clunkers is Galaxy’s biggest sale of the year. King says it performs a public service by getting unsafe or uneconomical cars off the road, it offers fantastic value for buyers, and it’s even a little bit of fun. Some of the worst vehicles end up on Galaxy’s newsletter or social media pages.

Galaxy will recondition vehicles that can be made into good cars, but a lot of the trade-ins go straight to the crusher. Last year, almost 150 old heaps were taken off the road permanently. “We’ve had people buy junk from the wrecker for $150, haul it in here and get the $2,000 trade-in,” he says.

“And then it ends up back at the wrecker.”

Rated A+!

In its 28-year history, Galaxy has carved out a sterling reputation not just among used-car dealers, but in the industry as a whole. “We have been voted by customers as the Black Press ‘Best in the City’ eight years in a row,” King says, adding they also have an A-Plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.

“I like to say we’re like a new car dealer that doesn’t sell new cars,” he says. “We do above-average reconditioning and we sell a great diversity of products to a great diversity of clientele.”

Galaxy prizes their relationships with their customers, and that’s why Cash for Clunkers is such a great opportunity for buyers. “We don’t mark up to mark down,” King said. “Our prices are the same before, during and after the sale.”

What if you’re a first-time buyer, without a trade-in? “We’ll work with you,” King said. “We’ll get creative so you don’t miss out on the opportunity.”

Cash for Clunkers is on now at all four Galaxy Motors locations: Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo and Courtenay.

Correction note:

A previous version of this story incorrectly indicated Galaxy Motors had a A++ rating with the Vehicle Sales Authority. However, the Vehicle Sales Authority does not endorse dealers.

While Galaxy Motors does have a A+ rating with the BBB, Vehicle Sales Authority does not have a grading system.
