Meet Allison Young, an audiologist and Director of Professional Practice at Ears to You Mobile Hearing Clinic. Allison joined Ears to You in 2020, back when founder Jeff Campbell was the sole clinician, and has witnessed its rapid growth from a ‘one-man-in-a-van show’ to the multi-van, multi-city, multi-province hearing care provider that it is today!
Allison completed her undergraduate degree in design at the University of Alberta and working as a medical illustrator and graphic designer, she wanted to continue her education in a more clinical capacity.
After finishing her Speech Language Pathologist Assistant diploma at MacEwan University in Allison travelled ‘Down Under’ for her Master’s Degree in Audiology at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
Living and working in Sydney for 12 years, including as a Research and Vestibular Audiologist at the Balance Clinic and Laboratory Allison also completed her PhD at Sydney University in 2020.
“After completing my PhD, I was really missing my Canadian family and in need of a ‘tree-change’ so I moved back home to Canada,” she says.
The first position Allison applied for upon returning to Canada was at Island-owned, Ears to You, where Jeff was just embarking on his own grand adventure, creating the first mobile-hearing clinic on the Island.
“Shortly after I began working with Jeff, I really started appreciating the need and benefit of a mobile hearing clinic which solely provides home visits, especially when COVID impacted our need for customized in-home care for many of our clients,” Allison says.
Over the past few years, she’s had a front-row seat to Ears to You’s unprecedented growth, adding more clinicians and support staff, as well as vans and new locations. Allison now helps Jeff support and train clinical staff and future franchisees joining the growing team.
“The sheer speed of growth for this small company has been astounding, but not surprising, and is a testament to Jeff’s business vision, and the expertise of Franchise Development and Sales Manager James Roche. I look forward to seeing the business succeed and grow exponentially in the coming years,” Allison says.
