A truck on fire drew upon the services of Nanaimo Fire Rescue and RCMP on the weekend.
Firefighters responded to an alarm, reported as a bush fire, in the woods near the Nanaimo Parkway and Northfield Road intersection Sunday, Nov. 19, at about 3:20 p.m.
David Dales, Nanaimo Fire Rescue assistant chief, said when firefighters arrived, they discovered a pickup truck fully ablaze. He said there wasn’t much left of the vehicle by the time the fire was put out.
“We weren’t even able to identify make or model and it was handed off to the police,” he said.
There was no reported secondary damage caused by the fire.
Reserve Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesperson, said in an e-mail, that the vehicle was located about 50 metres into the woods and was near a homeless encampment. There were no licence plates on the truck and police concluded their investigation at the scene.
