The Nanaimo News Bulletin published more beefs and bouquets than ever before in 2023, and we still couldn’t print them as fast as readers sent them in.
We know the Beefs & Bouquets page is one of the newspaper’s most popular features and that’s all thanks to our readers for their submissions – sometimes funny, sometimes concerning, often outrageous.
Here are the top 10 Beefs of the Year for 2023:
10. The grandfather embarrassed himself and me yelling ‘I’m not paying’ as they all continued to eat.
9. To the person who stole our money from my late father’s estate sale.
8. You know what you did and your lies will have you eating a huge slice of humble pie one day. I don’t even know you.
7. To the man at the fast-food drive-thru yelling at the young employee until she was having a panic attack over his phone app not working.
6. I am a little dismayed that you didn’t mention the name of the restaurant that served overpriced tea.
5. To my neighbour peeping in at me in the nude through my window in my bathroom.
4. To the coffee shop staff who embarrassed my wife. We asked for two macchiatos and none of you seemed to know what she was asking for. It is a very common drink.
3. To the fast food employee who was very rude to me and my friend Luke.
2. To the woman who, uninvited, joined us for our breakfast conversation at the restaurant.
1. I lost a large amount of money at the casino. To add insult to injury they gave me a one-year suspension when I complained.
