Mid Island Lego group hosts Brick Fest in Nanaimo to build membership base

MILUG holds event with Lego building, displays at Country Club Centre in Nanaimo

A Nanaimo Lego hobby group was looking to build its membership base with an event this weekend.

Mid Island Brick Fest, hosted by Mid Island Lego Users Group, took place Saturday, Oct. 28 at Country Club Centre with Lego displays, events and building. Krista Simpson, MILUG co-founder, said the exhibition is all about raising awareness about the group.

There was everything Lego, said Simpson, including custom builds, modified builds, literature builds, based on all people’s favourite books, race ramps and Lego Stop motion.

“It’s just an event to let the community know who we are, an awareness event,” said Simpson. “It’s how we get new members. We’re an adult-only club and so doing these types of events let’s people know that we’re out there and if they’re basement builders, then they know we’re here and they can find us and join the club.”
