The driver of a vehicle that had flipped onto its roof was taken to hospital this afternoon.

Firefighters, RCMP officers and paramedics were all on scene along Old Victoria Road near Aebig Road at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 18, following reports of a single vehicle that had rolled off the roadway.

Capt. Jason Battie of Nanaimo Fire Rescue said the single occupant of the vehicle sustained unknown injuries during the incident and was transported to hospital.

“There was entrapment and we had to remove one door to get them out … She was conscious when transported,” the captain said.

According to ICBC data, there were no crashes at that location in the five-year period from 2018-2022.
