With Hanukkah on and Christmas approaching, City of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation is seeking food donations for charity.
According to a press release, people can bring in a food donation to Oliver Woods Community Centre next week, which can be traded for drop-in fees. Among the classes being offered are yoga, boxercise, and zumba, with classes running from Dec. 18-22 at Oliver Woods.
Kathy Gonzales, recreation coordinator, arranged the program and all donations will go to the food bank.
“We thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community but also to encourage attendance at fitness classes during a normally hectic time, when sometimes exercise gets put aside,” said Gonzales in the press release. “It’s also a great way to come and try a class to see if it might be something you’d like to sign up for in the new year.”
Class spaces are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
