In loving memory ~
Tom passed away on June 27th, 2022, due to a massive stroke.
He suffered the stroke in the early hours of June 22, 2022, and was pronounced dead on June 27, 2022.
Left to grieve are his wife of 49 years, Barbara, and his 3 children and 8 grandchildren: Candace Jones (Kids: Stephen, Ewan, Kale, and Clayton), Theresa Linder (Phil) (Kids: Devon and Liam), and Brian Jones (Heather) (Kids: Quintin and Ronan). Tom worked & played at Harmac for 35 years and retired in 2008 due to a shoulder injury. He then went on to become an instructor for the P.A.L. and C.O.R.E. courses for BC Wildlife. This is something he really loved doing.
Seven years ago, Tom beat Colon cancer. He took it so well. We were so proud of him.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Wilfred, in 1995 and mother, Sarah, in 2020. Also left to mourn are his brother David (Robert), his brothers-in-law Keith Mackenzie (Karen diseased also in 2022), Lee Mackenzie (Sheryl), and his sisters-in-law Sherry Mackenzie and Laura Foucher (Art).
He also left many friends and relatives.
Two years ago, Tom bought a Harley, he had not ridden in 40 years but took to it as if it was yesterday. He then bought a bigger Harley so he could go shopping with it. The first thing he bought other than parts for it was a large box of fruit loops from Costco. He was so pleased that he could get in the case on the back of the bike. He was out riding with his pal Rick the day before his stroke.
Tom was an avid archer. He loved going to archery shoots and usually took his grandson Devon with him. The odd time Liam, Quintin, & Ronan would also join them in archery. Years ago, he did a lot of Silhouette shooting with his son, Brian. He liked hunting both with a bow and a rifle. He was a member of the Fish and Game Club. Thanks to his friends Gary, Tom, Wayne, and Carol for making the trip to Victoria to say goodbye.
A special thanks to Keith for going above and beyond by travelling to VGH at night to sit with Tom as well as going down during the day, and also for coming with Teresa and I in the early a.m. on June 29th when Tom was wheeled away for organ donation. He was able to donate his lungs, a kidney, and his eyes.
If you choose to, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or BC Cancer. And please become an organ donor.
We Love you and Miss you dearly.
