The Tourist Company performs at Tiger Mountain in Lantzville on May 27.

The band has drawn inspiration from space in its latest EP, called Mercury 1, which was the name given to space missions that led to the Apollo missions. It has elements of pop, punk and garage rock.

Lead singer Taylor Swindells said he sees parallels between artists and astronauts, which is why he decided on the name.

“I was really obsessed with space as a kid,” he said. “The imagery came through strongly for me.”

The band is working on a full-length album slated to come out this fall called Apollo.

It’s the first time The Tourist Company has performed in Lantzville. Swindells said the band is excited to perform.

The Tourist Company plays at 9 p.m. at Tiger Mountain, located at 3-7221 Lantzville Rd. Tickets are $10 and are available in advance from Tiger Mountain or at the door.
