A trio of naturalistic local artists bring their distinct talents to Art 10 Gallery this month.
Instead of featuring an individual artist for June, the gallery at Nanaimo North Town Centre decided to combine the three artists’ natural pieces into a single show.
The work of Patricia Mansell, Karin Schieber and Jackie Crabb will be displayed in the exhibit Slate, Wood and Metal on the gallery’s feature wall until June 10.
According to a release for the exhibit, Mansell, a well-known wildlife artist, brings several acrylic paintings on natural slate to the show. The release noted that the slate provides an ideal background for her paintings, creating a beautiful colour range from black, greys to golden sienna.
In the exhibit, Crabb brings wood to life in the creation of beautiful owls. Whether her pieces are eight inches or eight feet tall, each work of art goes through the same process of carving, sanding and oiling to fit the beauty of the individual wood.
Also appearing at the Art 10 Gallery is Schieber, a gold and silversmith trained in Germany.
“Drawing from the world around her, using many different techniques and textures, Karin creates one of a kind handcrafted jewelry,” noted the release.
Slate, Wood and Metal can be viewed until June 30. More information can be found at www.art10gallery.ca.
