Nice Horse performs as Tom Cochrane's backing band during his Mad Mad World Tour show in Nanaimo Monday (Feb. 27).

Born and raised on the Alberta prairies, the members of Nice Horse bring together various elements of the country scene in their music.

The four women, Kaley Debra, Katie Marie, Brandi Caroline and Krista Lee have each enjoyed careers as members of bands that have toured across the globe, licensed songs for television and film and performed nationally and during the Calgary Stampede.

Nice Horse is currently performing as the opening act for Tom Cochrane during his Mad Mad World Tour and open for him during the sold-out Nanaimo show at the Port Theatre Monday (Feb. 27) and his Victoria show on Feb. 28.

During the group’s first year the four have performed at JunoFest and opened for Big Valley, The Kentucky Headhunters and produced their first EP.

The five-song EP, A Little Unstable, was released Friday (Feb. 24) and is available online at https://squareup.com/store/nicehorse, iTunes and Google Play.

“We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished in our first year,” said Debra, a member of Nice Horse in a press release. “Bringing four strong female voices to the stage was our goal from the beginning and seeing it become a reality is very humbling.”
