Nanaimo Theatre Group presents absurdist drama and comedy

With the approaching death of King Berenger, his kingdom begins to collapse.

Queen Marguerite, prepares for the inevitable, but doesn’t want to accept it’s the king’s time.

The story of the king’s last day is told in the play Exit the King, being presented by the Nanaimo Theatre Group.

The production stars Jay Norton as Berenger the First, Kristin Forester as Queen Marguerite, Lorna McLellan as Juliette, Douglas Aalseth as the doctor, Daniella Novak as Queen Marie and Kelly Kijek as the guard.

Exit the King, by Eugène Ionesco, premiered in 1962. The play is described as an absurdist drama and comedy.

The Nanaimo Theatre Group’s presentation of Exit the King runs from Wednesday (Feb. 22) to March 11 at the Bailey Studio, located at 2373 Rosstown Rd.

Evening shows are 8 p.m. on Feb. 22-25, March 1-4 and 8-11. Matinees are 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 and March 5.

Light refreshments will be served opening night.
