The Nanaimo Theatre Group has announced its upcoming 2016-17 season.

The season kicks off with Lost in Yonkers, a play by Neil Simon, in October. It debuts Oct. 13.

The play is about two teenaged boys who are sent to live with their grandmother after the death of their mother.

In December, the theatre group presents Aladdin and the Pirates by Brian Luff.

The pantomime includes Abanazer, an evil pirate, genies and a penguin named Monty. It debuts Dec. 17.

In February 2017, the organization presents Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco.

The comedy is about the death of King Berenger and his kingdom descending into chaos. It debuts Feb. 22.

In April the Nanaimo Theatre Group presents Toronto Mississippi by Joan MacLeod.

The play is set in 1987 and revolves around the main character Jhanna, a funny and passionate 18 year old. She lives with her mother and a boarder named Bill who is a poet. It explores the themes of the power of family and love. It debuts April 19.

Individual tickets are $20, $16 for the pantomime and $25 for the New Year’s Eve performance. Or people can purchase a flexipass for eight shows for $135.

All shows are performed at the Bailey Studio, located at 2373 Rosstown Road.
