A Nanaimo artist has been recognized for his introspective piece on water at the Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show held in Duncan.
According to a release for the show, approximately 150 people attended the early May opening to celebrate artists from the Cowichan Valley and beyond.
Devin Watson was awarded Best in Show for his piece Interdiluvian, a thoughtful wooden plaque on the theme of water.
“From the smallest organism to the tallest tree, water connects us to the pattern of all life, crossing boundaries of the physical and the metaphysical in its eternal journey from the highest clouds to the bottoms of the oceans and everywhere in between,” said Watson in the release.
The arts show, which is held at the Cowichan Community Centre, will run until May 29 and can also be viewed online at www.cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca.
Show hours at the community centre operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 12-4 p.m. on weekends.
