More than 200 wine vintages on tap during annual festival

NANAIMO – A grape time will be had by all at the Nanaimo Wine Festival.

The 21st annual event, set for Friday (Oct. 25), 7-10 p.m., at Beban Park Social Centre, is a place to increase knowledge of wine, try new vintages and talk to wine makers and agents.

Each all-inclusive ticket gives access to more than 200 wines from around the world.

A portion of proceeds will be directed to the Nanaimo Fire Fighters Association fire safety house, an educational tool and program for teaching fire safety in the home to children and has been running since September 1985.

The tickets also includes a keepsake wine glass, book listing of the wines with room for notes, appetizers and music by award-winning guitarist Eric Harper.

Prizes will also be given away, including a weekend at Tigh-Na-Mara in Parksville.

Tickets are $42 for the Nanaimo Wine Festival and are available in advance only at Quarterway Liquor Store; The Tally Ho Beer and Wine Store; The Well Liquor Store; Landlubber Licensed Liquor Store; Windward Licensed Liquor Store; Northgate Licensed Liquor Store; and University Village Liquor Store.

Please plan for a designated driver or pick up a free $2.50 voucher at the festival to go toward a safe ride home with AC Taxi.
