Iranian-Canadian cultural society on Vancouver Island calls for art pieces for exhibit

The Iranian-Canadian Cultural Society of Vancouver Island is looking for art submissions related to the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran.

According to a release, the society is looking for original work by artists of any origin and nationality residing on Vancouver Island for an upcoming exhibit.

“The uprising is a struggle for freedom and human rights and a protest against the repression of the Islamic regime in Iran,” noted the release.

Submissions are welcome until March 7, and there are no size restrictions for pieces. All types of media, including various paints, ink, pencil, graphite, original photographs, hand-pulled prints, mixed-media and sculpture will be considered.

Each artist can submit up to three images of works, not exceeding three megabytes individually, via e-mail to iranvi.ca@gmail.com for works be considered. Selected artists will be notified by March 10.

The exhibition is planned to run from mid-March to early April at Vancouver Island University’s Malaspina Theatre.
