Arts and culture organizations looking for a little financial help to host an event downtown can apply for a boost to support their endeavours.
The Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association is accepting applications for 2013-14 grants.
Events must have the potential to attract both residents and visitors, promoting downtown Nanaimo.
They should demonstrate a good potential for economic impact on the area and the grant is designed to assist events and festivals that use services and facilities within the business improvement area.
The amount of the grant can’t exceed more than 25 per cent of the budget. The application deadline is May 31. The financial or in-kind support is aimed at helping create new events or support existing programs.
