Fiddle concert benefits Nanaimo church

Geoff Horrocks and Trish Clair perform at St. Andrew's United Church in Nanaimo

There are songs from years past that stir powerful memories for each of us, songs that transport us to a place and time when life was very different.

These are the songs that Geoff Horrocks is most moved by as a performer. Horrocks is a singer and pianist with a rich and resonant voice and an endearing manner with his listeners. He sings pieces from the 1930s onwards, familiar favourites presented in his own unique and memorable way.

Trish Clair is a classically trained violinist who has long felt the pull of traditional and popular music, and who shares Horrocks’s love of standard old songs.

Clair is best known for founding and directing the thriving VanIsle Fiddlers, a community fiddle program which currently has more than 50 members spanning all ages and abilities.

In performance Horrocks and Clair present a variety of songs and fiddle tunes in a lighthearted and enjoyable show that appeals to old and young alike.

Horrocks and Clair perform June 15, 7 p.m., at St. Andrew’s United Church. Tickets $12. Proceeds benefit the church’s repair and restoration projects.

Tickets available at Lobelia’s Lair, Tom Lee Music, West Coast Classic Floral and the church.
