Fall glass art show features a menagerie of work

Nanaimo - The versatility of glass artwork showcased during annual sale Saturday (Oct. 27)at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

Glass can be fired, stained or fused to create everything from earrings to window panels.

People can see the diversity of art that can be created from glass during the One Day Studio Tour: Annual Fall Glass Art Show and Sale Saturday (Oct. 27).

“It’s a single day ‘studio tour’” said Chris Smith, show coordinator in a press release.

“Our studios are scattered, so normally you’d need a few days and a whole lot of travel to see our new work. At this show, you can visit and chat with us in one afternoon.”

The glass show features 18 artists from around Vancouver Island and gulf islands. Nanaimo artist’s Damaris Oakley and Brenda McKintyre will display their work as well as Gabriola’s Dan Bergeron and Jim Heeks, Jane Ferland and Jill Adamson and Lantzville’s Christopher Smith.

A variety of glass art will be on display including jewelry, glass sculptures, window and door panels.

The show and sale is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Dodd’s Narrows Room of the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, located at 80 Commercial St. Admission is free and there are hourly door prize draws.
