Actors embrace new habits

Nanaimo's Dover Bay Secondary School's Bay Theatrix presents Sister Act, which debuts Tuesday (Dec. 13).

Dover Bay Secondary School Performing Arts Academy actors are donning nun costumes and embracing a disco dive vibe for the production of Sister Act.

The musical, presented by Bay Theatrix and based on the movie that starred Whoopi Goldberg, runs from Tuesday (Dec. 13) to Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at the school’s performance stage.

Tickets are $15 or $12 for seniors and students and are available at the school’s office.

The Wednesday (Dec. 14) show has a special ticket price of $10.

The play stars Jennifer Kwan as Deloris Van Cartier, Rayann Boudreau as Mother Superior, Demitria Rounis as Sister Mary Robert and Ella Olesen as Sister Mary Patrick.

The show also features a live orchestra and music written by Alan Menken with lyrics by Glenn Slater.
