Australia’s The ABBA Show is returning to Canada for a full national tour, its first visit since 2015, and the tour ends on Vancouver Island with four dates, including Nanaimo, July 8.

As Showtime Australia’s highest-selling production, it has seen high demand from Canadian fans ever since the last tour, which sold out several performances and had to add more to their itinerary to meet the demand.

“ABBA fever is a true phenomenon. It’s just something that never seems to die down, people just never tire of this show wherever it goes,” said Showtime Group CEO and director of The ABBA Show, Johnny Van Grinsven, in a press release.

The ABBA Show is a full-scale concert experience and stage show featuring two hours of live singing and dancing with the accompaniment of a live band, replica costumes and theatrical lighting and effects.

The international cast includes Brits Hannah Pocock as Agnetha and Jenna Ball as Frida, Australian Zac Coombs as Bjorn and South African Andre Behnke as Benny.

Crowd participation is encouraged. For those patrons who want to get in on the action, audiences are welcome to turn up in costume, dance along and generally join in the party atmosphere that ABBA music conjures so perfectly. Amongst the 20-track set list you can hear Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Ring Ring, The Winner Takes It All, Fernando, Super Trouper and so many more.

“The show is so much fun which is why audiences across the world love it,” said Ball in the release. “We love getting the crowd singing and dancing, and creating an atmosphere that’s truly electric.”

The Nanaimo performance is at the Port Theatre. Tickets are $61 for general admission or $32 for children 12 and under. Visit www.porttheatre.com for tickets or information.
