The seventh annual Mid Island Walk for ALS takes place Sunday (June 10) in Parksville’s City Hall Square at 11 a.m.

Proceeds from the event fund research and to provide support for those living with ALS.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a fatal neuromuscular disease that affects the person’s motor neurons that carry messages to the muscles.

New technologies and drug therapies hold potential for today’s patients to function, communicate, and live with greater comfort than ever before. Over the past decade the average lifespan of people living with ALS has extended by a full year.
