VOLUNTEERS: Society requires support workers

Nanaimo Region John Howard Society – The society is looking for male volunteers to provide one-on-one support to people on parole in the Nanaimo area. You would be someone to talk with help people integrate into the community.  Training is provided. If you can commit to one visit a week and would like to know more, please call Wayne at 250-754-1266.

Autism Society of Nanaimo – The society is looking for 10 volunteers to help at the Autism Expo in Beban Park April 30 to set up tables from 9-11 a.m. Another 10 volunteers are needed for takedown between 4-5 p.m. Please contact Marc LaCouvee at 1-800-668-3622 or e-mail

Nanaimo FASD Society – The society is seeking volunteers to sit as a board of diretors. Applicants must be interested in working with others toward the goal of preventing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and supporting caregivers and people with FASD. They must also have a passion for providing education to the community.  Please contact Ann at

Nanaimo Conservatory of Music Society – Volunteers with an understanding of music and archiving or library skills are needed to help with sheet music cataloguing. A commitment of one to four afternoons per month, and a criminal record check (paid for by the conservatory) is required. Please call Kathleen at 250-754-4611.

Nanaimo Archives Society – Detailed-oriented volunteers with a knowledge of library cataloguing procedures, and are required for four hours per week at this Commercial Street location. Full training is provided. Please contact Christine at 250-753-4462 or e-mail
