Vancouver Island University’s VIP Business Breakfast is expanding this year to all four campuses to help raise money for students.
Sponsored this year by Coast Capital Savings, the money raised at the breakfasts will go to student scholarships through the VIU Foundation.
“We are looking forward to working with the Vancouver Island University Foundation to support students,” said Maureen Young, Coast Capital Savings spokeswoman. “VIU is integral to the growth of Vancouver Island’s academic knowledge base, skilled trades and cultural resources.”
Students have benefitted from the scholarships will be at each of the breakfasts to share their stories. The Port of Nanaimo is sponsoring the first of four breakfasts Thursday (March 10) and the audience will receive an update from port officials on the progress of the cruise ship terminal.
Wahid Ali, chairman of VIU Foundation, said community involvement is important to the success of the foundation.
“The goal of the foundation is to grow our asset base so we can help students achieve their dreams,” said Ali.
The first breakfast takes place 7-9 a.m. at VIU. Guests will enjoy a gourmet breakfast prepared by the school’s culinary arts program. Tickets are $50 and available through VIU’s Office of Development and Alumni.Please call 250-740-6258 or e-mail Renee.bohun@viu.ca.
Breakfasts will also be held at Cowichan Golf and Country Club April 15, Beach Club Resort in Parksville May 12 and in Powell River in October.
