Toy store seeks play officer

As kids across the country start to think about a cool summer job, there will be one lucky enough to become the chief play officer of Toys R Us.

For the future Toys R Us Canada CPO, “play” will be the job as he or she provides the inside scoop to parents on the hottest trends in toys and gaming.

The company is calling on 13- or 14-year-old Canadian children to apply through an online video submission. Interested candidates should record a short two-minute video stating why they should be the next chief play officer by discussing their favourite toys and games.

All eligible videos will be evaluated on their originality, creativity and enthusiasm. Up to 10 finalists will be brought to Toronto for an interview and audition with a panel of judges.

The winner will be awarded a one-year CPO contract and experience a year of play, social media blogging, television appearances across the country, walking in Toronto’s Santa Claus Parade and attending other consumer events.

And, to help the next CPO become a true expert on toys, he or she will attend toy training sessions with toy manufacturers and receive regular deliveries of the newest, hottest toys.

Videos will be accepted until 8:59 p.m. May 29 at www.toysrus.ca/cposearch.
