Police sometimes turn to the public for help solving cases, but this weekend, Mounties need public assistance to free two riders representing Nanaimo on the 2017 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock team.
Cpl. Kevin Flood and Const. Samantha Caram are each taking a turn at being perched high on a scissor lift for Free the Fuzz, a Tour de Rock fundraiser at Cabela’s in Nanaimo today (July 2) until 4 p.m.
Flood said he hopes to get down, as he’s hot and doesn’t like heights.
Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock has raised more than $20 million since 1998 to raise money for pediatric cancer research and programs benefiting children with cancer and their families, such as Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp for child cancer patients.
Cabela’s, located at 6902 N. Island Hwy., is sponsoring Sunday’s event with lots of family fun, including a pellet- and BB-gun range, kids’ crafts table, face painting, a barbecue, raffle prizes and Tour de Rock merchandise sales.
