Thai culture shines bright during Loy Krathong – the Thai Full Moon Festival, Nov. 14 at Cavallotti Hall.

The festival gives praise to the water spirits with people setting decorated lanterns afloat in the rivers to rid themselves of bad luck.

The Nanaimo event begins at 4 p.m. and include a Miss Full Moon contest,  an exhibition of Latin dancing by Forever Yung Dance Studio from Parksville, Thai dancing, a buffet dinner and a Loy Krathong Lantern parade.
