Pirate Frank is armed once again.
Wellington Foundry completed the recasting and attachment of Frank Ney’s sword last week after vandals made off with the bronze weapon last year.
The new sword is uncharacteristically shiny compared to the rest of the statue of Nanaimo’s former mayor in Maffeo Sutton Park, but time and weather will put the same patina on the new sword soon.
The cost to replace the bronze blade was sligtly more than $1,000.
