Community members got a chance to glimpse the latest fall fashions, and at the same time, give to a good cause.
KC’s Boutique held its seventh annual Fashion for Compassion high tea and fashion show earlier this spring at the Nanaimo Curling Centre.
The April 28 event raised $10,300 for the Nanaimo Community Hospice Society, according to an event press release.
More than 200 women and a handful of men spent an afternoon previewing the latest looks in clothing and accessories, and bid on an array of silent auction items.
This year’s donation brought the running total from the Fashion for Compassion event to more than $54,000.
“That is a huge contribution to our organization. These ladies are excellent community partners,” said Janet Skinner, president of the hospice society, in a press release. “On behalf of all our clients, volunteers and staff I want to extend a huge thank you to [KC’s] and to all those who sponsored and attended this event. Because of their generosity we can continue to provide free programs and services to our clients.”
