SPCA aims to increase adoptions

B.C. SPCA aims to increase adoptions of adult cats with special promotion Aug. 23-25.

Adult cats are sometimes overlooked for adoption in favour of kittens.

During the Pick Your Purr-fect Price promotion, Aug. 23-25, the B.C. SPCA is offering people the chance to choose their adoption fees to help find more adult cats loving homes.

The promotion also includes six-weeks of pet insurance, from Petsecure. All adoptions still require people meet the standard criteria to ensure animals are the right fit for their new home and their needs will be met.

The B.C. SPCA takes in more than 17,000 cats and kittens each year and summer is often the peak season where shelters are filled to capacity.

On average the B.C. SPCA spends more than $780 for cat care in shelters, including vaccinations, spaying or neutering, identification tattoos, sheltering and feeding.

The Nanaimo and District SPCA branch is located at 2200 Labieux Rd. For more information please go to www.spca.bc.ca/nanaimo or call 250-758-8444.
