Haven Society and West Coast LEAF (Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund) present a workshop on family law.
This three-hour workshop will focus on how changes to family law in B.C. are impacting the parenting experiences of women with abusive or harassing ex-spouses.
This interactive training is designed to strengthen service providers’ ability to help women cope with legal challenges around parenting after leaving an abusive relationship. Each session is co-presented by a family law lawyer with a strong lens on violence against women.
The workshop will cover what’s new in the Family Law Act and what it means for women in practice; some common legal challenges, such as parenting assessment reports, denial of parenting time, relocating with a child, litigation harassment; and legal tools and strategies that can help women to cope with these challenges.
The workshop takes place Friday (April 15), 1-4 p.m., at Harbourfront library, meeting room A. Cost is $20 per person. Please call 250-756-2452 ext. 225 or e-mail jenn@havensociety.com.
