Social networking secrets revealed

The secrets behind social networking successes are front and centre at the Nanaimo Women’s Business Network’s next meeting.

Author and social media trainer Angela Crocker is the keynote speaker for the NWBN event, 5:30 p.m. March 28 at Nanaimo Golf Course, 2800 Highland Blvd.

Crocker’s talk, People Drive Online Communities, is based on her new book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Creating a Social Network.

Social networking, social media and online communities are getting lots of attention.

They represent a fundamental shift in how people interact in their personal lives and within their professional networks.

Building a community online is not enough – individuals and businesses must take part with meaningful relationships, genuine interactions and generous content.

In the session, Crocker discusses how the core of any community is the people who make it vibrant, interesting and dynamic.

She offers specific strategies to build community including attracting new members, gathering content and navigating relationships.
