When you host what is dubbed the biggest community garage sale on Vancouver Island, you need sale items.
The Caring and Sharing Community Garage Sale takes place June 25-26 at Schooner Cove Marina in Nanoose, but organizers are on the hunt now for gently-used items that will attract garage sale shoppers.
The sale is a fundraiser for Nanoose Community Services, a non-profit organization helping low-income residents in Nanoose Bay.
Schooner Cove Marina is collecting donations and sale items for the garage sale. Drop off days are Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Most Nanoose Community Services clients are single parents – several with special-needs children. The organization also works with seniors, individuals with disabilities and people facing unexpected unemployment or emergencies. Two years ago, NCS opened its Nanoose Bay Community Cupboard, a food bank that provides food to more than 95 local residents.
