There will be a touch of magic at Beban Park social centre this month as the Nanaimo Quilters’ Guild prepares for its annual show.
The guild’s Material Magic show runs May 24-26 and members are quilting like crazy to show off their finest work.
A large exhibit of locally made quilts and fibre arts displayed in a variety of categories, Material Magic features quilting and piecing demonstrations each day, a 17-exhibitor merchant mall and the guild’s boutique where viewers will find a plethora of locally quilted and handmade items for sale.
Judy Lyons, a certified quilt appraiser, is available through pre-booked appointments for appraisals.
Raffle draws take place throughout the three days with more than $5,200 in prizes up for grabs.

The Nanaimo Quilters’ Guild supports many groups in Nanaimo and area, In the past three years, it has contributed more than $35,000 in quilts and various items to groups such as Haven House Society, Salvation Army, Nanaimo Women’s Resources, NRGH pediatrics and palliative care units, Meals on Wheels and Nanaimo Youth Services.
