Non-profits urged to help clean city

Registered non-profit groups are invited to participate in a city program that helps them raise funds and gain recognition while making Nanaimo a cleaner, more attractive community.

Registered non-profit groups are invited to participate in a city program that helps them raise funds and gain recognition while making Nanaimo a cleaner, more attractive community.

Groups participating in the Partners in a Cleaner Community program must appoint a minimum of six volunteers per group who are at least 12 years old and provide insurance, protective clothing, adult supervision and transportation. Supervisors will be required to attend a scheduled orientation/safety training session sponsored by the city.

The city will provide safety vests, trash bags, gloves, road safety signs and collection and disposal of litter.

The city contributes $50 per kilometre to the non-profit group upon completion of its assigned area.

Service groups interested in participating should contact City of Nanaimo public works at 250-758-5222. Deadline is March 15.
