A non-profit fair trade store is now open for the season, helpful to those shoppers who wish to make consumer choices in good conscience.
Global Village Nanaimo is at a new location this year, 512-6591 Aulds Rd., near Home Depot.
There are fabric bags and mats from Bangladesh, wallets and bags from Thailand, bamboo wind chimes from Indonesia and singing bowls from Tibet. The store has also worked with fair trade suppliers to source a stock or re-usable shopping bags from Bangladesh, India, Vietnam and Guatemala.
Global Village is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and has an online store at www.globalvillagenanaimo.com.
