No dogs allowed on beach beginning May 1

NANAIMO – The city is reminding dog owners to keep pets off beaches between May 1 and Oct. 1 because of migrating wildlife.

Public beaches are closed to pooches, beginning May 1.

The City of Nanaimo is reminding pet owners that dogs aren’t allowed on public beaches between May 1 and Oct. 1 when shorelines are active with migrating and breeding wildlife.

Owners caught breaking the rules face a $150 fine.
