Community members can take part in a marathon stretch session this weekend.

Nanaimo Yogathon takes place all day Saturday, Sept. 28, at Maffeo Sutton Park.

As in the past, organizers have lined up an array of instructors to lead participants through a range of styles.

“We are going to be highlighting local yoga teachers and different kinds of yoga practices. We will have a gamut of different ones…” said Devon Bennett, event organizer. “Probably most people have not tried all the different flavours of yoga out there.”

The yogathon raises money for a different cause each year and this time around a yoga for youths program is being supported.

“We have a strong community that wants to be socially active and wants to help these programs by donation and we just need to get the word out to more people so we can raise more money and do more good things,” Bennett said.

Nanaimo Yogathon begins at 9 a.m. and the final class of the day begins at 8 p.m. Cost is a $20 donation, which includes entry into a prize draw. To purchase a ticket in advance, search for the event on http://eventbrite.com.
