Nanaimo parks and rec offers camps during strike

NANAIMO – Camps open to six to 12-year-olds next week.

The City of Nanaimo parks and rec department has camps this week, offering parents options for their children in light of the teachers' strike.

Camp Firefly, which offers activities and games for children between six and 12 years of age, will again be available at both Beban Park and Oliver Woods Community Centre.

In addition, the Nanaimo Ice Centre is offering Cool Kids Skate Camp, also for six- to 12-year-olds.

Both camps cost $35 per child per day, go from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and run until Friday (Sept. 12).
