Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation kicked off a new campaign to help raise money for cardiac equipment.

The spring Healthy Hearts campaign aims to raise enough money to pay for urgently needed cardiac equipment as well as other vital pieces at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. The foundation’s goal is to raise $350,000 for items such as an echogardiograph, a specialized recumbent bike that enables more accurate cardiac stress tests, and other key pieces like stretchers, ultrasounds and monitors that form the backbone of medical care at the hospital.

Campaign brochures are already being distributed to Nanaimo homes through the News Bulletin.

“Our communities are truly outstanding,” said Janice Perrino, foundation CEO. “Everyone uses the NRGH and thank goodness citizens support the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation to ensure that we can continually purchase the best medical equipment possible for the hospital.”
