Nanaimo groups benefit from donations

NANAIMO – Organizations saw hundreds of dollars donated by Nanaimo fundraisers.

Berwick bucks

Berwick on the Lake Residents make five donations of $500 to Nanaimo charities, including Haven House, Loaves and Fishes, Nanaimo Community Hospice, Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation, and the Salvation Army. The money is raised through internal fundraisers at the seniors’ residence.

Club cash

Denis Ostercamp, Nanaimo 7-10 Club board member, accepts a $3,500 donation from Susan Urban, marketing and community relations manager for Mid Island Co-op. The money will go toward fuel costs to keep the food pick-up van operating during the coming year. Drum up support

Sue Stone, of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital palliative care unit, receives an $827 donation from Dwight Gray, Band Aide organizer. Gray, a drummer with the band Party Rock, organized a fundraising concert with Eveready, and Christine & Morgen at Malaspina Theatre in memory of his mother.
