NANAIMO - Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General recognizes local corrections officers at awards ceremony.

Six corrections and probation employees with the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General from Nanaimo were among the 27 honoured for exemplary service from across B.C. at the annual Corrections Exemplary Service Medals award ceremony Monday.

The awards were presented by B.C. Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon at the ceremony held at Government House in Victoria.

The Exemplary Service Medal recognizes exceptionally commendable service, not just length of service, and is the most prestigious national decoration for corrections professionals in Canada.

Karen Davidson, Karen Dennhardt, Rose Humphrey, Lindsay MacLennan and Kevin McKinnon of the Nanaimo Correctional Centre and Justin Olson, of Nanaimo Community Corrections, each received the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal for 20 years of service.
