Nanaimo community groups support Habitat

NANAIMO – Major reason for Nanaimo Habitat success is due to community.

To the Editor,

Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island is in the midst of building its 13th and 14th homes in the mid-Island area, a duplex in downtown Nanaimo.

A major part of our fundraising success is the local businesses who have contributed to this project through donations, both in the form of financial contributions and time.

Thank you to RBC, Coast Realty Group, the Home Depot Foundation, Mid-Island Co-op, Windsor Plywood, TD Bank and the Brick for raising $90,000 for Habitat, as well as putting together volunteer teams to help construct the home in the coming months.

Habitat also had the Young Professionals of Nanaimo participate in their first volunteer build in August. We have just over $90,000 left to raise and are looking to our community to help make this project a reality.
