Lantzville Rotary hosts football tailgate fundraiser at Diana Krall Plaza

NANAIMO – The fundraiser will feature the B.C. Lions-Saskatchewan Roughriders game on the big screen.

The Rotary Club of Lantzville will be holding a football-style tailgate party on Friday (July 17), benefiting the Nanaimo 7-10 Club and local minor football.

The event will be held at Diana Krall Plaza starting at 4 p.m., when the B.C. Lions travel to Regina to play the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in a rematch of last week's thrilling 35-32 overtime victory. The game will be shown on the big screen.

Admission is by food or cash donation and the aim is to raise about 454 kilograms of food for Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.

The event is family-friendly and there will be a beer garden and hot food onsite, a 50/50 draw, silent auction, children's entertainment and prizes, including tickets to another Roughriders-Lions game at B.C. Place in the fall.

People are encouraged to wear football jerseys, including Lion orange, 'Rider green, or uniforms for local teams.
