Golf tournament puts families in homes

Habitat for Humanity hosts annual fundraiser.

Habitat for Humanity’s Nanaimo chapter is hitting the links for a fundraiser.

Habitat’s second annual golf tournament takes place July 13 at Nanaimo Golf Course. Proceeds go toward purchasing land in Nanaimo to build a duplex for two local families.

The event is limited to 25 foursomes, so golfers are encouraged to sign up soon.

Further information and a registration form for the tournament can be found on the website at www.habitatmvi.org,  calling 250-758-8078 or by dropping by the Habitat office at 1-4128 Mostar Rd.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization which brings community members together to build decent, affordable housing for families that need help.

The selected family purchases the home based on an interest-free mortgage, thus making homeownership possible for those who would not qualify for traditional mortgages. In return, the family contributes 500 hours of volunteer labour during the build.
