Folks can paint the town red to help a mural painting project become realized at the Royal Canadian Legion.
The Mt. Benson Branch 256 is hosting a gala dinner and dance event Sunday, June 2, to try to raise money for a mural project. The Legion is partnering with Humanity in Art to cover the entire outside of the hall with murals.
“The murals will tell the story of contributions of our Canadian service men and women from WWI through the Afghanistan engagement in beautifully painted and lifelike renditions,” notes a press release from the Legion.

During the day on Sunday, there will be an open house at the Legion, with military displays and special guests from the cadets, Canadian Forces, RCMP emergency response team members and other Mounties. Hotdogs will be served, as well as chips and pop for kids, during the free 2-5 p.m. open house.
At 5:30 p.m., the Legion’s lounge will open and a barbecue salmon or steak dinner starts at 6 p.m. followed by dancing until 9 p.m. with Guy Bezeau and his band providing live music.
Gala tickets are $50 and available in advance only; contact the Legion office at 250-754-8128.
