Fundraiser gets moving for children

Organizers of the second annual Run, Walk & Roll at Woodgrove Centre have their sights set high on success.

Last year’s inaugural two- and five-kilometre event saw 135 participants raise $5,400 the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

The goal for 2011 is to double the amount of participants and amount of funds raised.

The Run Walk & Roll takes place Sunday (May 15) at 9 a.m. in the Woodgrove Centre parking lot Near Toys R Us. The event is open to athletes of all abilities and runners, walkers, baby strollers, wheelchairs and power chairs are all welcome.

Proceeds go to the Child Development Centre to help children with developmental needs and their families.

Participants can register at www.nanaimorun.com. Race packages are available Saturday (May 14) at the Woodgrove community booth near Flight Centre.
