Free webinar helps people with chronic pain

Upcoming free webinar will help people manage chronic pain.

People with chronic pain, their families, and health professionals are invited to take part in a free online live webinar titled Opiates, Friend or Foe with Dr. Andrea Furlan.

Furlan is an associate scientist at the Institute for Work and Health, a physician at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Physiatry at the University of Toronto.

She holds a doctorate in clinical epidemiology and her main research interests include chronic pain, low-back pain and neuropathic pain.

Furlan will discuss endorphins, opioids and opium, myths and realities about addiction and opioids, what your doctor might think about your pain killers and tips on talking to your doctor about opioid medication.

This webinar, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m., is part of the on-going series, Chronic Pain; Improving Life While Living It, which provides an opportunity  to learn from top researchers and practitioners about how to live well with chronic pain and the latest research and treatments.
