Craft fair raises money for Nanaimo schools foundation

NANAIMO – Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation benefits from Handmade for the Holidays on Dec. 10.

Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation is holding an event to raise money for school children in need.

Handmade for the Holidays craft market is set for Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Nanaimo District Secondary School.

“We’re excited about the craft market that will appeal to Christmas shoppers and has already attracted over 30 vendors who will be selling a wide range of items such as jewelry, candles, soaps, T-shirts, and much more,” said Crystal Dennison, executive director of the foundation. “The idea of the craft market event came from Jenny Short, who does beautiful artwork and embroidery and is an active member of Vancouver Island’s arts and crafts community.”

In addition to a wide range of crafts for sale, there will be a snack table and a variety of raffles with items donated by the vendors. All proceeds are going to the foundation to help school children living in poverty.

Donations ($2 suggested) will be taken at the door.

Vendors interested in renting a table should visit www.NLSF.ca and download the table registration form, or e-mail nlsfevents@gmail.com.
