Contest needs young scribes

Budding young journalists are encouraged to write green in anticipation of Earth Day.

Environmental Defence, a non-profit environmental organization, host the Canada’s Next Green Journalist contest for youth aged 12-18 that challenges them to create an article, video or take a photo about environmental issues that matter to them.

The contest is part of the Young Reporters for the Environment project and involves youth from about 15 countries. Winners could received prizes such as a digital camera, pocket camcorder, a laptop or money for their school.

The deadline for submission is April 30. A panel of judges will choose the top eight winning entries and announce Canadian winners in May, global winners in June.
